How Much BPA Exposure Is Dangerous?

Environmental groups say a ban would protect consumers from the health effects of BPA that leaches from products including some soup cans.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has until today to decide whether to ban the plastic additive BPA from food packaging.

The deadline is part of a legal settlement with the Natural Resources Defense Council, which had petitioned the FDA to ban BPA, also known as bisphenol A, from any use where it comes in contact with food.

Environmental groups say a ban would protect consumers from the health effects of BPA that leaches from products including some soup cans and water bottles. The chemical can act like estrogen in the body, and studies of animals show that large doses can affect the brain and sexual development.

But recent studies done by government researchers at the request of regulatory agencies suggest it's very unlikely that BPA poses a health risk to people. And in the past, the FDA has relied heavily on this sort of in-house research for its decisions.

In its effort to review the safety of BPA, the FDA called on a high-powered team of government scientists to help answer several key questions.

One is: How much of the BPA a person ingests actually makes it into his or her bloodstream in a dangerous form?

That's an important question because the human body often inactivates potentially dangerous chemicals like BPA as they pass through the intestine and liver.

Once that happens, the chemical is no longer a health risk because it's no longer "bioactive," says Justin Teeguarden, a toxicologist and senior research scientist at the Pacific Northwest National Lab in Richland, Wash.

So with BPA, he says, "you may be exposed to relatively large amounts in the diet. But what matters most is how much of the bioactive form actually reaches your blood and your tissues."

Teeguarden studied 20 men and women who spent a day on a diet loaded with BPA from canned foods and juice in plastic containers. He wanted to know how much bioactive BPA would end up in their blood.

The answer: not enough to measure. "If it is present it is below our limit of detection," Teeguarden says.

Some studies that have found quite high levels of BPA in the blood, Teeguarden says. But he questions whether those results are reliable.

The reason is that to get blood levels that high,a person would have to ingest hundreds or thousands of times more BPA than people typically get in their diet.

"The question is, where did that bioactive BPA come from?" Teeguarden says. And he says one likely answer is that the chemical got into blood samples accidentally sometime after they were drawn from a person's body.

"Contamination is a common problem," Teeguarden says. "We observed it in our own study, but because we were monitoring for it we were able to overcome that particular problem."

The studies that found high levels of bioactive BPA in blood used samples collected in hospitals or doctors' offices, not research settings, Teeguarden says. And those studies did not include a common test to detect contamination.

Another big BPA question for the FDA is whether the chemical poses a special risk to newborn children.

So the agency asked Dan Doerge, a research chemist, to investigate. Doerge works at the FDA's National Center for Toxicological Research in Arkansas.

He studied newborn mice, rats and monkeys because it would have been unethical to use human babies.

In one study, Doerge looked to see whether a lot of BPA was getting into breast milk. His conclusion: "The transfer from mother into milk is extremely low."

In another study, he asked whether it's likely that human newborns are less able than adults to make BPA harmless by inactivating it.

He knew that was the case for newborn rats and mice. More toxic BPA does reach their bloodstream.

But monkeys are a much better indicator of what's happening with human babies.

And Doerge found that newborn monkeys had no trouble inactivating BPA. Levels in their bodies were about a 10th as high as in mice and rats because "they have a greater metabolic capacity to detoxify BPA than do either of the rodent species."

The studies by Doerge, Teeguarden and other government scientists weren't intended to prove that BPA is safe.

But the results do add some important context to the debate about BPA, Doerge says.

"It makes you think that this would have to be an extraordinarily potent compound to be causing effects at the really low levels that humans are exposed to," he says.

Of course it's still possible the FDA will ban bisphenol A.

But many companies worried about BPA's bad image have already started using alternative chemicals in a wide range of products, especially those intended for kids.

These chemicals may be safe ? but they haven't been scrutinized the way BPA has.

'Clare's Law'- A change for the better for victims of domestic violence ...

In October 2008, Clare Wood ended her relationship with George Appleton. Her rejection sparked a campaign of abuse, resulting in her horrific murder four months later. Appleton had a history of violence against women, including harassment, threats and kidnapping a former girlfriend at knifepoint.

Despite a number of complaints to the police, resulting in a panic button being fitted in her home, this was not enough to save Clare. Her murder made clear that the treatment of domestic crime requires improvement. This led to a government proposal, named ?Clare?s Law?, enabling the police to disclose information to partners of those with histories of domestic violence.

The pilot scheme, announced on 5^th March 2012, will begin this summer. It follows a government consultation published in October 2011 which investigated whether a national disclosure scheme could improve the safety of people in relationships with previous offenders. The initial consultation raised important issues, such as how much information should be released and in which circumstances, and how malicious requests will be avoided. The government seeks to address these matters during the scheme?s trial.

The pilot is testing two processes for disclosing information about a partner?s violent history; the first is triggered by a query from a member of the public (?The Right To Ask?); the second is where police disclose information in order to protect a potential victim (?The Right To Know?). Taking into account the amount of government and police time, and taxpayers? money spent on this issue, it is important to consider the implications of this scheme.

Two people are killed by their partner each week in England and Wales; domestic violence is the cause of nearly 40 per cent of all female[1] UK homicides[2]. Evidently, government attention in this area is required, but is Clare?s Law the answer to reducing these figures? Refuge, one of the UK?s longest running domestic violence charities does not think so. The charity has criticised the proposed disclosure laws as ?reactive rather than proactive?.

The theory behind the Government?s scheme is that if someone told that their partner has a history of domestic violence, they can then make an informed decision whether to continue with the relationship. This, however, raises many problems; if, like Clare Wood, a woman had no previous indication of her partner?s violent behaviour, then she would be unlikely to make an enquiry. Also, it is extremely doubtful that the scheme anticipates all those embarking on a new romance to carry out a police background check ? it is simply unrealistic and doesn?t reflect reality.

Further, it is often on ending the relationship that people turn violent, as was the case with Wood and Appleton. Considering this, what is a woman to do when burdened with the information of her partner?s history? Many in such relationships stay with their partners out of fear for what would happen should they leave. Others might not leave because of love and belief that their partner can change. Would a woman be blamed for not leaving her partner when informed of his violent past?

The proposed ?Right To Know? process means police will inform potential victims of domestic violence. Statistics show that 44 per cent of victims are involved in more than one incident[3], so certainly many victims are already aware of what their partners are capable of, without being informed by the police. Knowing that their partners terrorised others before them would provide little solace.

Additionally, how would the police determine who they should inform? Appleton trawled social networking sites looking for his women. Are the police to follow these men from relationship to relationship, or message all their Facebook friends issuing warnings; for surely any one of them could be his potential victim. If a woman was able to escape an abusive relationship as a result of police disclosure, the perpetrator would simply be able to move onto his next victim. The problem is thereby displaced rather than prevented.

The police can only inform on the basis of information they have available: the details of those previously convicted. Considering that less than 40 per cent of domestic violence cases are reported to the police, a minor proportion of offenders will have police records, making it extremely unlikely for those making enquiries under ?The Right To Know? to obtain accurate information.

Having considered the implications of the proposed scheme, I think the most important thing is the way in which the police handle the disclosures. Potentially life-changing and life-threatening information is dangerous if unaccompanied by police support and intervention. Because the majority of cases go unreported, police time would be better spent conducting thorough investigations into allegations of abuse and monitoring those with troublesome histories. In a less than ideal world where prevention is impossible, protection should be key.

Swedish Uses Colon Cancer Live Stream to Fight Disease - Exec ...

Physicians will respond on camera to questions during live streamed colonoscopy on March 28

SEATTLE, March 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Colorectal cancer doesn't broadcast its presence until it's too late. Swedish Health Services hopes to change that by getting the word out about safe and effective prevention options.

On Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (PDT), Swedish physicians and staff will host its first-ever online chat and video stream of a colonoscopy procedure. The stream will be made available online at www.swedish.org/colonlive.

In the United States today, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths for both men and women. It is estimated that 51,000 people will die of the disease this year and 143,000 new cases will be diagnosed.

The American Cancer Society recommends that, upon turning age 50, everyone should get a colonoscopy to prevent colon and rectal cancers. The test is designed to find both early cancer and polyps (growths in your large intestine).

"Right now, only about 60 percent of patients get screened, even though the effectiveness in reducing deaths has been proven," said Dr. Raman Menon, a colon and rectal surgeon at Swedish. "Regular testing is a powerful weapon for preventing the onset of the disease. Removing polyps in the colon keeps the cancer from ever evolving into anything dangerous. The disease is easily treatable if found at an early stage."

"Education is our best, most cost-effective weapon against colorectal cancer," said Dr. Nicholas Procaccini, a gastroenterologist at Swedish. "Screening helps people stay well and it saves lives."

In nine of 10 patients who found their cancers early, their chance for survival in five years is high. Very often these people live a normal life span. If people neglect screening, the cancer can grow and spread without being noticed.

A colonoscopy takes about 30 minutes and is not painful. It is an internal examination of the colon, or large intestine, and rectum. It is done using an instrument called a colonoscope, which has a very small camera attached to a flexible tube that the examiner uses to scope the area. The procedure reviews the entire length of a colon.

As part of Colon Cancer Awareness Month, Drs. Menon and Procaccini will host an online chat and live stream featuring two colonoscopy procedures, one of a male and the other of a female patient. The live stream will be focused around the importance of undergoing routine colonoscopies after age 50 with a focus on advances in colonoscopy procedures.

During the live stream the public will have the chance to communicate with the physicians who performed the procedures and ask questions. The physicians will respond live on camera throughout the program. The dialogue will be focused around the importance of early detection in preventing and treating colon and rectal health issues. Blasts shake Homs, Syria rebels hit back

Blasts rocked the flashpoint city of Homs on Sunday as Syria's regime pressed its assault on protest hubs, while rebels staged a dawn attack on a military base in Damascus province, activists and monitors said.

There was "heavy shelling of Khaldiyeh, Hamidiyeh and Old Homs neighbourhoods by the regime's army, and explosions shook the whole city," the Local Coordination Committees said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitoring group, said in a statement that four civilians were killed by security force fire in the Homs area.

Three, including an infant, died in Homs itself, while the fourth -- a young girl -- was killed in Rastan by heavy machinegun fire. The Britain-based monitoring group also said a member of the security forces was killed in Homs city.

In the city of Hama to the north, the Observatory reported that army shelling killed one civilian in the Murk district.

And in the southern town of Nawa, "tanks have entered the main streets, and heavy gunfire by regime forces is reported," said the LCC, the main opposition activist group in Syria. Five troops and three mutinous soldiers were killed.

LCC activist Luai Rushod in Nawa spoke of "a large number of defections by soldiers in the the southern part of Nawa, followed by clashes and troops committing barbaric murders."

Nawa is in the southern Daraa province, where the popular uprising against President Bashar al-Assad's iron-fisted rule erupted in March 2011. Monitors say at least 9,100 people have been killed since then.

The Observatory said an explosion also hit a bridge in the Daraa region of Lajat where many army deserters are reported to be.

In the north, near the border with Turkey, rockets were fired into the town of Aazaz as helicopters flew overhead, the LCC said in a statement sent to AFP in Beirut.

It added that rebel fighters of the Free Syrian Army blocked a highway used by the military for reinforcements and supplies to Aazaz, the scene of fierce clashes for the past few weeks.

Two deserters were killed in fighting at Aazaz with government forces using heavy machineguns and mortars, it said.

In the northwest province of Idlib, security forces killed one civilian and wounded two seriously in the town of Saraqeb, and also burned down the houses of dozens of militants.

"Deserters have begun pulling out of Saraqeb," said the Observatory, which also reported fighting in the town of Ariha to the west.

Human Rights Watch on Sunday accused regime forces of using civilians as human shields to march in front of them as they advanced on opposition-controlled towns in Idlib.

"By using civilians as human shields, the Syrian army is showing blatant disregard for their safety," HRW emergencies researcher Ole Solvang said in a statement. "The Syrian army should immediately stop this abhorrent practice."

In Damascus province, rebels fired rocket-propelled grenades in a dawn attack on a military facility in Nabak, said the Observatory.

Mohammed al-Shami, an activist, said fighting erupted at night between soldiers and army deserters and continued into the early hours, including in Douma, a hot spot on the capital's northeastern outskirts.

In eastern Deir Ezzor, the security forces conducted a search and arrest operation, according to the Observatory.

Elsewhere, the official SANA news agency said that an "armed terrorist group" attacked a gas pipeline in the eastern region of Bir al-Jouf.

At least 28 civilians were killed across Syria on Saturday, including two women and two children in the central province of Homs, the Observatory said.

Sixteen soldiers and two deserters were also killed, it said.

As the year-old conflict showed no signs of abating, rebel fighters set up a military council to unify their ranks and political opposition leaders called a meeting of all dissident groups to forge common objectives.

The latest violence came as UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan was in Moscow to seek the vital backing of Russia, a key ally of the Syrian regime, for his plan to end the bloodshed.

There are growing signs that Moscow is beginning to lose patience with Assad, despite his commitment to massive new Russian arms purchases and the granting of key naval access to the Mediterranean.

Young Thomas Doret fills the role with natural sincerity and focus, and not a second that seems contrived.

Makes a powerful statement about the plight of unwanted children. But it also incorporates elements of melodrama, film noir, and even the fairy tale that engage our empathy and confirm the Dardennes' great compassion.

A wonderfully human and humane story about one of those lost-and-found children who tend to slip through society's not-so-safe safety nets.

To their credit, the Dardennes portray their subjects with a minimum of sentimentality.

It seems like a fairly minor movie, although one with major emotional pull.

Remains an effective picture with a genuine feel for human behavior, unearthing a direct sense of disturbance and a few select moments of stunning psychological clarity.

A film of rosy optimism it features a beguiling performance from screen newcomer doret who achieves a wonderfully natural, touching chemistry with de France.

Beyond Samantha's hard-to-fathom loyalty, many of the plot twists are predictable and contrived.

You wouldn't exactly call The Kid With a Bike a feel-good movie, but by the end it certainly invites the viewer to be hopeful about human nature. Another gem from the boys.

Dardenne heroes are crafty and restless, down but not out, and Cyril ought to be one of their best. For whatever reason, he isn't, quite.

Compassionate, humane but never sentimental.

Simple grace is a quality rarer in modern films than one might expect, as is the yard-by-yard, in-the-trenches slog of messy human connection, absent a lot of cathartic speechifying. Both are on rich display here.

The Dardenne siblings keep the story moving at a cracking pace, scrupulously avoid any syrupy sentiment, and deliver a drama that's both emotionally wrenching and morally complex.

An organically unfolding plot and riveting performances make this Cannes prize winner searing and sad.

...never soft-pedals the treacherous byways and alternative routes that [protagonist] Cyril only narrowly avoids on his road to security and happiness.

The Kid With A Bike cuts to the humanist heart of a boy's troubled 'rite de passage', without ever resorting to exaggerated emoting or cheap sensationalism.

Santorum's rural edge keeps him in GOP contest

WEST MONROE, La. (AP) -- Republican presidential nominating contests often reveal a rural-urban split in the party, but what sets this year's campaign apart is the emphasis Rick Santorum is placing on that divide and wearing his successes in small-town America as a badge of honor.

To hear Santorum tell it, the ability of front-runner Mitt Romney to win in big-city suburbs is a mark of ideological weakness, not political strength.

"Gov. Romney does well in the counties where Democrats do well, and we do well in the counties where Republicans do well," Santorum said this week. "That might give you some indication as to who the candidate is who best reflects the values of the Republican party."

Whereas President Barack Obama once infamously tried to explain rural culture with an anthropologist's detachment, saying rural Americans "cling to guns or religion" out of a sense of economic desperation, Santorum happily embraces the culture. He worships with Pentecostals in central Louisiana one day and campaigns at a gun range in the north on another, testing his marksmanship by pulling the trigger of a .45-caliber semiautomatic Colt pistol.

Crisscrossing Louisiana this week and Illinois before that, Santorum thrived in small cities and rural areas where social conservatism runs deep, where the stresses of a slow economic recovery are intensely felt and where his faith-based, small-government message resonates more deeply than in cities and suburbs.

In state after state since he began to emerge as the not-Romney candidate in the Republican field, Santorum has beaten Romney in rural areas, even in states Romney ultimately won. In Michigan and Ohio, states where Romney barely prevailed, Santorum won the rural vote 43 percent to 34 percent, and 46 percent to 28 percent, respectively, according to exit polls.

In Illinois, where Romney easily won, Santorum still took the rural-small city vote 45 percent to 35 percent.

On Saturday, Santorum is expected to win in Louisiana, where he has campaigned more vigorously than Romney.

And while Santorum continues to collect delegates off his success in rural counties and congressional districts, his relative weakness elsewhere raises doubts about his ability to slow Romney's march to the nomination.

"He needs to do a lot better in the suburbs than he has recently," John Feehery, a Republican strategist and former top House Republican leadership aide, said of Santorum. "He's definitely the candidate of the sticks."

Stuart Roy, an adviser to a super political action committee that supports Santorum, said Santorum's inability to break through in the suburbs and cities is in a part a function of his conservative message.

"He is maximizing the social conservative base in most states," Roy said. "In doing that you are going to lose some of that suburban moderate vote. There is a trade-off there. The idea here is to win the primary or caucus. It's not about where the vote comes from."

But he said another factor is limited money. Santorum's campaign operates on a shoe-string budget and that means buying television advertising in cheaper markets, which tend not be in the big cities. As a result, suburban voters aren't as exposed to his message as they are to Romney's, along with Romney's deep-pocketed campaign and super PAC.

Santorum aides downplay the need for stringing together state victories, noting that he can keep amassing delegates by winning in states that are conservative strongholds like Louisiana and otherwise staying within reach with rural and small-town victories that also yield a share of delegates.

And Santorum's conservatism has a ready audience outside the city beltways and beyond the collar counties that surround them.

Indeed, rural and small-town voters are most apt to be deeply conservative -37 percent describe themselves that way compared to 33 percent in the suburbs and 31 percent among urban voters, according to surveys in 16 states where exit or entrance polls have been conducted. What's more, 68 percent of rural voters identified themselves as born again or evangelical Christians, compared with about half in urban or suburban precincts.

In the states that will vote in the next two weeks, Wisconsin has the highest concentration of rural small-town voters at 41 percent, according to the 2008 GOP primary exit poll. The state this year is considered a toss-up.

Santorum looks strong in Louisiana, where social conservative Mike Huckabee won in 2008 over John McCain, the eventual Republican nominee. Huckabee won 43 percent of the vote, aided by sizable majorities in the rural and predominantly Protestant northern part of the state.

But the rural-urban, Santorum-Romney divide also raises questions about how strong Santorum would be against Obama should he succeed in his long-shot quest to deny Romney the nomination.

The suburbs are strongholds of swing voters that have been crucial in presidential elections for years.

"He struggles in the swing areas of swing states," Kevin Madden, a consultant for Romney, said of Santorum. "That would put us in a difficult position to win back the presidency. I don't think there is much confidence that he would all of a sudden find the message in a general election."

Santorum, however, sees a model in the conservative candidates who succeeded in the 2010 general election by focusing their campaigns on limited government.

"Whether you are a conservative or an independent or a moderate, I think people are very concerned about the scale and size of the government and this intrusion into people's lives," he said, answering questions outside a fish processing plant in Kenner, La., this week. "We can make this campaign about that."

Santorum appeals on several levels. His social conservatism and religious underpinnings attract some while others like his small-government message.

"His Christian values - it is one of the things that stands out about him," Larry Glascock Jr., a West Monroe, La., truck driver, said at Santorum's stop Friday. "The country needs to turn back to God."

Others like his desire for a smaller government.

"I don't want any big government, no mandates," said James B. Terral, a retired accountant from West Monroe. "Personally I think an employer should not be forced to do anything but pay an employee. They don't need to baby sit them and they don't need to act like they own them. We need more freedom to do what you want to do."

But topping the list? Not San Francisco. Instead, the honors go to Austin, which saw speeds of 841 KBps, Pando found.

Our blog articles, like this one, are often inspired by the challenges that we encounter on a daily basis with new clients.

One of the most common pitfalls for a new, excited blogger is overlooking the importance of properly?categorizing?their content.

Note: This post is not about what Categories you should use. That falls under ?What I Should?Be Blogging About.?

Because blogging is a marathon, and not a sprint, one has to expect that they are going to publish 100s of articles, possibly 1000s.

One must employ a plan of organization at the outset so as to avoid an impossibly complex mess in the future.

Too Many

To understand what blog covers, I generally look at the Categories to see what range of content it offers. I should be able to determine what your focus is?at a quick glance. If you have dozens of Categories, I fail to see a strength of topic and your expertise is clouded.

Too Few

Less is more, in the sense that the idea is to establish focus and expertise, but you can have too few. I?ve seen blogs that have the content categorized by ?Buyers?, ?Selling? and ?Mortgage?. At a minimum the Categories should at least be more descriptive and possibly segmented into some specific topics that fall under the umbrella of Buying, Selling and Mortgage.

Just Right

Typically, we recommend (to new bloggers) that one keeps their initial Category count to under 10. As content piles up, and focuses shift like the market, it?s understandable that this number will swell.

Garbage

Uncategorized and Miscellaneous

The default Category in the WordPress platform for content is ?Uncategorized?. Leaving this Category in place is a sign of laziness. And worse, it gives the impression that whatever is behind it is worthless.

Subjects vs Topics

A common mistake when categorizing content is the use of the subject, and not the topic for the category. For example, if I am blogging about preparing to sell my home around Christmas, this does not call for me to create a Category for ?Christmas?. I would only do so if I regularly dedicated a significant portion of my content to Christmas. ?Otherwise, ?Christmas? should be reserved as a ?Tag? and not a Category.

The One Timer

You had every intention of blogging on a topic, but it just hasn?t panned out. Now you have a lonely post sitting in a Category showcased along with all the other areas of real focus. Move that post to a different Category and it (the unwanted Category) will disappear.

Organize your Categories by their value to your ideal audience. The topics that most apply to their needs should be listed first.

SEO Value

Your Categories carry strong SEO value. By using Keywords (neighborhood + ?real estate? for example) you are doing yourself a great favor. Your site can appear in search results in many forms, and the Category page is one of them. Each time you publish an article into a Category, you are effectively?reinforcing?this keyword association for your content.

Other Category Tips

Single Posts Added to Multiple Categories

One of my blogging?pet peeves?is when a post is placed?into several Categories. It looks terrible in the article credits (listing all the Categories that a post falls under). It looks like you are keyword stuffing by including all those Categories. And, it looks like you didn?t organize your site very effectively if a post falls under so many sections.

Back to the Local Newspaper analogy, an article about Baseball falls under Sports (and maybe Baseball), but not under Business, Arts, Food, Real Estate, Comics and Classifieds.

The Whimsical Category

Random musings need a Category as well. Don?t be afraid to include your whimsical posts into a catchall Category, especially if they veer from the general focus of your site. Real-life examples: ?Friday Fun?, ?Whimsical Wednesday?, ?Just Because? ? you get the idea.

Linking to Categories Within an Article

This is a bonus SEO tip, as well as just smart blogging. Link to a Category within an article at every opportunity. For example, when we mention SEO, we commonly link to our Blogging SEO Category. This allows that Category to be spidered again, as well as offering a valuable link to the reader.

Exclude Outdated Categories

Most blogs will have the feature to exclude a Category ? use this when you no longer want to showcase it along with the others.

How To Get Your Thyroid To Burn Fat For You, from VIP1to1Fitness

The answer to burning fat calories lays not so much in the food you eat, but in how the body processes it. The one thing that determines how well the entire metabolism operates isn?t in your stomach, or the intestines, or even in your muscles. It?s located in your throat. It?s a tiny V- shaped gland called the thyroid gland. Think of the thyroid as the body?s ?thermostat.? The thyroid gland releases the hormones T4 which then converts to the more potent T3; it will constantly attempt to keep the body at a comfortable 98.6 degrees. Elevating body temperature via the thyroid gland is the key to the burning of more body fat. This is accomplished quite well through resistance exercise, and can be achieved with certain drugs, which can be a dangerous practice that can cause permanent harm to the thyroid gland if there is no medical necessity.

The thyroid is in a way the body?s ?heating system;? it ?burns? food for fuel in order to provide energy. The more it burns, the more effectively it will use fat (both consumed and stored) to continue functioning. If it?s a little slow, its fat burning ability will be hindered and excess calories become stored, as body fat. Although hypothyroidism is usually common to the elderly, a subpar thyroid is very common. And almost everyone can benefit from increasing thyroid output to optimum levels.

Here is a list Foods and herbs that may impair thyroid function. This isn?t exactly a list of things that you MUST NOT eat, but some things that you might choose to steer clear of, or to limit quantities and frequencies of consumption.

1. Peaches, Pears, and Strawberries: There is something else to keep in mind with fruits, and any foods or drinks that have fructose or high fructose corn syrup. The fructose messes up hormone conversion at the cellular level. What this means is that your body has a much tougher time converting the T4 storage hormone to the active hormone, T3.

2. Cruciferous Vegetables such as Broccoli, Cabbage and Cauliflower: They contain a chemical called Goitrogens. What that means is they retard the process of the thyroid from turning iodine into the essential fat burning hormone T3.

3. Green Tea: This contains fluoride, a known T3 suppressant.

4. Soy Products such as Tofu: These contain phyto-estrogens that can hinder T3 production.

Here is a list of nutrients found in supplement form that can really help fire up a thyroid fat assault:
